Attitude Is To Blame For Bad Property Management

FIABCI Malaysia and the Malaysia Shopping Malls Association (PPK) have co-organised the 11th instalment of their property management seminar, with this year’s theme entitled “Good Governance And Good Practices In A Developed Economy”.

This year’s seminar touches upon the management of stratified mixed development projects, which is growing in popularity here in Klang Valley. Common configurations in recent years are residential towers built on top of shopping malls or condominium-like structures with a retail podium on the first few floors.

“Typically, problems in strata development and management are often made by these three parties – Purchasers, developer and the joint management body (JMB) or management corporation (MC),” said Shahril Bin Dato’ Omar, Head of Commissioner of Building from the Kajang Municipal Council, which so happens to be one of the speakers of the seminar.

Challenges in managing strata titled mixed development properties include balancing each individual owners’ personal needs and agenda, allocation of funds, quit rent computations, amongst many others.

“We mainly conclude that this is mainly due to issues in regards to attitude,” Shahril further added.
