Horizon Village Outlets In Serenia City Set To Open Doors In 2018

Selangor, 13 April 2017 – Strategically located in the south of Kuala Lumpur between Putrajaya and the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Horizon Village Outlets (HVO) will soon open doors to present a combination of cultures to both the locals and tourists alike.

Positioned in the heart of the 2,370-acre Serenia City township and the larger Klang Valley, HVO has the benefit of a population of 7.7 million within a one hour drive and an immediate population of 124,000 within a 10 minute drive. Another key feature of HVO is its close proximity with Xiamen University that has a student capacity of 10,000. The outlet shopping mall is centrally located at the intersection of the Elite Highway and Putrajaya-Cyberjaya Expressway, Federal Route 29 (FT29) and is clearly visible to traffic in all directions. Bearing all this in mind, HVO will be deemed as a highly attractive shopping destination for locals, tourist, and students alike.

Jointly developed by Horizon Group Properties (30%), United States’ third largest operator and developer of outlet shopping malls and is currently managing over 3.5 million sq ft of retail space in 11 outlet malls, and Malaysian-based Mainstay Holdings (70%), Horizon Village Outlets offers a unique shopping experience bridging European, American and the Malaysian cultures that is set to differentiate itself from other outlet malls. The marketing and leasing consultants for Horizon Village Outlets is Nawawi Tie Leung Property Consultants.

“Horizon Village Outlets is Horizon Group Properties’ first venture in Malaysia and I am proud to say that this latest offering is a culmination of our extensive experience in developing and managing outlet shopping centres. We are excited with the prospects of the outlet mall industry in Malaysia, looking at its robust domestic consumption and lifestyle-oriented shoppers. HVO represents the hallmarks of a class-leading shopping centre – from its merchandise mix to its well-thought through building design that offer retailers optimum store visibility as well as a differentiated shopping experience for its consumers,” said Gary Skoien, President and CEO of Horizon Group Properties.

Spanning approximately 23 acres and over 400,000 sq ft of nett lettable area (NLA), HVO will be home to over 150 retail brands and F&B outlets. Positioned as an alternative luxury shopping destination, leading brands from The Valiram Group such as Michael Kors, Kate Spade, La Martina, Victoria’s Secret, Giuseppe Zanotti, Tumi, Swiss Watch Gallery and many more are on board to bring excitement to the fashion and retail scene in Malaysia. The gross development cost of HVO is approximately RM400 million.

Horizon Village Outlets depicts a European persona enticing shoppers to look forward for its European-styled architecture concept. Designed by US-based Adams + Associates, the outlet shopping mall is modelled after a racetrack circulation design that encourages intuitive wayfinding by the shoppers. In line with its name – “Horizon”, shoppers will be spoilt for choice as the racetrack circulation architecture is designed to create maximum outlet visibility. In addition to this, the outlet mall promises global standards in fixtures and amenities to deliver an unrivalled outlet shopping experience.

David Nelson, Managing Director of International Business, Horizon Group Properties said, “Apart from retail brands, HVO will have tourism-based products and leisure attractions that will cater to tourists and locals alike.”

HVO will also feature a serene open-air ambience with weather-proof walkways. The design of HVO ensures optimum air movement within the walkways and corridors for a cool and ventilated shopping experience. Shoppers and coaches will benefit from the covered underground parking and dedicated parking for coaches.

“We are excited to be the very first outlet shopping mall that is positioned within a township. As an outlet mall operator over the last 18 years, we continue to look forward to bringing brands closer to our customers, whilst introducing a differentiated shopping experience to Malaysia. As the Malaysia’s retail scene progresses with the introduction of outlet shopping centres, there lies an opportunity for brand owners to welcome potential customers into the brand experience through alternative channels such as outlet shopping centres. Outlet shopping centres allow aspirational shoppers to experience and adopt the brand in an accessible format, as they transit towards full priced stores in the near future,” Skoien added.

Horizon Village Outlets is expected to be completed in mid-2018.
