KUALA LUMPUR, 18 JULY 2017 – Ekovest Berhad (“Ekovest” or “Company”), a Bursa Malaysia Main Market listed company involved in construction, property development, and infrastructure concession businesses, has today launched their KL River City project which aims to rejuvenate and transform Northern Kuala Lumpur into a world class destination. The KL River City will also see the rehabilitation and transformation a 2.2km stretch of Gombak River to provide riverfront lifestyle and serene landscape for the public to enjoy. The launching of the KL River City was duly graced by Minister of The Federal Territories, Y.B. Datuk Seri Utama Tengku Adnan bin Tengku Mansor.

KL River City is positioned within Precinct 1 & 2 of the River of Life (“ROL”) and its just a short drive from Major City Hubs such as KL Sentral, KLCC, The Golden Triangle, as well as the upcoming Tun Razak Exchange and Bandar Malaysia. The master plan framework will redefine Gombak River’s identity and rebuild its redevelopment strategy by transforming it into a vibrant and liveable riverfront – a world class tourist destination in northern Kuala Lumpur. Upon completion, KL River City shall possess seamless integration with roads and urban public transportation system (DUKE Highway, MRT, LRT, and Water Taxi), as well as serene landscape with self-sustaining developments, thereby cementing its position as a World Class River City.

Speaking after the launching ceremony, Ekovest Berhad Managing Director Datuk Seri Lim Keng Cheng said: “One of the highlights of KL River City is the GREAT System that will use a non-mechanical system to provide flood attenuation by channelling the flood water into a flood tunnel below the city (bypassing the river corridor itself). With this system, the upper deck of KL River City will be able to allow water activities on the river bank throughout the year. This GREAT System will also provide an improved flood mitigation system in and around Kuala Lumpur City Center.”

“We fully utilise the natural element of the earth – gravity, to do this. Thus, there will be no mechanical systems like pump, required, and this reduces the cost and space significantly. Space for various recreational activities such as landscaping, jogging and cycling paths, as well as infrastructures will be sufficient, as the Gombak River will only occupy 10 to 15 metres width. With this, we believe such elements in place will definitely enhance the well-being, environment, and development surrounding the KL River City, elevating Kuala Lumpur’s image as the top 20 most liveable city in the world,” Datuk Seri Lim added.

With the implementation of KL River City, the surrounding area covering almost 320 acres has huge potential for future developments that will benefit all developers along the Gombak River. Ekovest, being one of the many developers in the area, has several development projects within the area, namely EkoTitiwangsa @ KL River City, EkoRiverCentre @ KL River City, EkoGateway @ KL River City, EkoQuay @ KL River City, EkoAvenue @ KL River City, with an estimated gross development value (“GDV”) in excess of RM 6 billion.

Covering 110km in length, the ROL is a 7-year project under the Economic Transformation Programme for Greater Kuala Lumpur to resuscitate the Klang and Gombak rivers. The event was also graced by YBhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Lim Kang Hoo, Executive Chairman of Ekovest Berhad and YBhg. Datuk Seri Lim Keng Cheng, Managing Director of Ekovest Berhad.
