MAH SING EMPLOYEES COLLABORATE VIRTUALLY FOR HARI RAYA AIDILFITRI MUSIC VIDEO #RAYAKITAJAGAKITA
Kuala Lumpur, 2020 – Mah Sing Group Berhad (Mah Sing) is celebrating the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri with a music video titled #RayaKitaJagaKita.
Produced during the conditional motion control order (CMCO) via virtual collaboration, Mah Sing’s employees embraced the new norm of social distancing and recorded themselves singing at home on their own smartphone.
Mah Sing’s Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Ho Hon Sang said, “Our Raya video concept was inspired by our own employees’ initiative in using Vlogs and video streams to stay connected to customers, combined with the current global trend whereby various home concert videos are streamed online during the worldwide lockdown.”
The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has changed daily routines and lives, with enforced social distancing and other socially responsible moves in efforts to curb the spread of the pandemic.
“We may now live in challenging times, but that should not stop us from celebrating the true meaning of Raya. In today’s digitally equipped world, it is quite possible to keep the festive spirit alive virtually. Keep your family and loved ones safe. We hope the video will create a lasting impact and can serve as a reminder to us all to continue to observe good social distancing practices especially during this Raya period. On behalf of Mah Sing, I would like to wish everyone Selamat Hari Raya, Maaf Zahir dan Batin. Stay safe, stay healthy,” Datuk Ho Hon Sang elaborated.
The Group’s original concept for their Raya video was starkly different; a large-scale video production of “Dulu & Sekarang” (Then and Now), highlighting the different ways Raya is celebrated a few decades ago versus now.
The concept was meant to ignite nostalgia, but the inevitable balik kampungfootage is not in line with current sentiments and requirements aptly captured by trending hashtags #JanganBalikKampung, #RayaMCO, and #RayaDiRumah.
The video production would also have involved massive human movement and contact, which is not feasible in current circumstances, so the team put on thinking hats and went on a completely different path.
Video director, Jay Asyraf added lyrics to a tune by veteran Malaysian composer, Saito Sphere with the key message that “it does not matter where we are, Hari Raya is celebrated together (in our hearts), though this year may be a little different, yet we stay strong together”. In essence, #RayaKitaJagaKita.
