THE EDGE – MAH SING MILLIONAIRE CONTEST” MARKS MILESTONE FOR BOTH CORPORATIONS AS THEY CELEBRATE 21ST ANNIVERSARY

PETALING JAYA – A millionaire is in the making with the launch of The Edge – Mah Sing Millionaire Contest, a collaboration between The Edge, one of Malaysia’s leading financial and investment news publication and Malaysia’s premier lifestyle developer Mah Sing Group.

The contest, touted as the biggest property contest in the country will see one lucky winner walk away with a RM1million cash voucher to purchase any Mah Sing residential property in Malaysia. The Edge – Mah Sing Millionaire Contest is a timely collaboration between The Edge and Mah Sing, as both corporations celebrate their 21st anniversary of operations in Malaysia this year.

The Edge – Mah Sing Millionaire Contest was officiated by Mah Sing Group Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer Mr Ng Chai Yong and The Edge Media Group Publisher & Chief Executive Officer Ho Kay Tat during a ceremony held here today at Mah Sing’s Icon City, Petaling Jaya sales gallery.

“Through this contest, we are excited with the opportunity to showcase the diversified range of residential products that we have to offer in the property hotspots of the Klang Valley and Greater KL, Johor Bahru, Penang and Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Working together with The Edge, we view this contest like no other because this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for any person to own a million-ringgit dream Mah Sing home,” said Mr Ng Chai Yong.

He added: “In the Klang Valley for example, the Group’s Icon Residence, Mont’ Kiara features luxurious high-rise serviced residences with built-ups from 874 sq ft to 4,716 sq ft, while Aspen@Garden Residence in Cyberjaya comprise 3½-storey bungalows with approximate built-ups of 7,796 sq ft . In Penang, the Loft@Southbay City offers stunning views of Penang’s second bridge, boasting seafront residential suites with built-ups from 1,378 sq ft to 5,963 sq ft, while in Johor Bahru the Meridin@Medini comprise Residential Suites with built-ups from 521 square feet to 2,131 square feet and SoVo units with built ups from 341 square feet to 1,053 square feet. In Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, The Residences at Sutera Avenue feature modern apartments with built ups from 726 sq ft to 1,220 sq ft.”

“These are but a few of an attractive list of residential properties for the winner to select from, and especially so since 84% of the Group’s planned residential launches this year are priced below RM1million, while 71% are priced below RM700,000 and 44% are priced below RM500,000,” said Mr Ng Chai Yong.

The contest is also designed to introduce theedgeproperty.com to the public.

Theedgeproperty.com is The Edge Media Group’s newly launched property portal that is designed to create market transparency and level the playing field by providing the public with information that are relevant to investment decisions. The comprehensive website offers news, data, analytics and tools that are currently not available on any property portal in Malaysia, all for FREE.

“All contestants will be required to use the Edge Fair Value tool on theedgeproperty.com to check the indicative fair value of a property as the starting point for the contest. The Edge Fair Value is an indicative price of a property generated by a proprietary algorithm based on actual transaction,” said Mr Ho Kay Tat.

He added, “We hope that through this contest, not only the participants but the public will learn about the vast array of proprietary news, research, data, analytics and tools available on theedgeproperty.com.”

Apart from The Edge Fair Value tool, users can also find out the indicative price per square foot, indicative rental range and indicative rental yield of properties using other analytics tools on theedgeporperty.com. Users can also check the actual sale and rental transactions in a building or on that street, what is the indicative price of surrounding properties, the facilities of the neighborhood, explore the Hot Spots tracker to see what is trending, and even set a Watch list to notify them when there are properties that match the criteria the user has set, such as price, size and location.

The Edge – Mah Sing Millionaire Contest will be opened from 20th June 2015 until 31st July 2015, and is open to Malaysians and Malaysian Permanent Residents and also Singaporean and Singaporean Permanent Residents aged 21 years and above (subject to terms and conditions).

To take part in The Edge – Mah Sing Millionaire Contest, participants may log on to The Edge Property website www.theedgeproperty.com, Mah Sing’s facebook page www.facebook.com/mahsing, other web links from web pages related to Mah Sing or the contest webpage www.theedgemahsingmillionaire.com. Participants will be guided to complete a few simple registration steps and will be required to complete a property Fair Value Tool before starting on the contest. To gain more chances of winning, participants may also take part in the exciting activities listed on the contest webpage.

“Members of the public should take this opportunity to not only vie for the RM1million grand prize, but to also understand better who Mah Sing is as a corporate citizen, our various corporate social responsibility initiatives and what we are doing to become a world-class developer.”

“At Mah Sing, we are not only focused on building quality homes, but we are also focused on building strong community ties though our projects. A good example would be our Southville City@KL South project, which covers 428 acres of an integrated township in Bangi with a direct interchange for improved access. Upon its anticipated completion in 2018, we will see a thriving township filled with a good mix of communities in both residential and commercial components. Another example would be the recent launch of the Meridin East City Sales Gallery, the Group’s 5th township to-date in Johor and its largest township to date as well at 1,352 acres of freehold land,” said Mr Ng Chai Yong.

Mr Ho Kay Tat added, “The very attractive grand prize of a RM1 million voucher for a Mah Sing residential property, will undoubtedly create a lot of buzz and and draw many participants.”

The finale of the contest will convene with a “Survivor Challenge” – a mix of simple and physical games for 21 selected finalists on 22 August at Southville City@KL South, Bangi.
