Members from UEM Sunrise hosted a PropTech pitching session as part of Malaysia Tech Week 2019 (MTW’19), a week-long initiative organised by Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and Knowledge Group Of Companies.

The goal of the pitching session was to explore the possibilities that lie within the PropTech industry, and to seek out solutions on how to improve homeownership amongst Malaysians. The panel of judges include Kenny Wong Koon Keng, Chief Marketing Officer of UEM Sunrise, Aris Murad, Group Chief Digital Officer of UEM Group, Zadil Hanief, Head of Strategic & Corporate Affairs of UEM Sunrise, and finally Hasniza Mohamed, Head of Digital UEM Sunrise.

“Property developers are not really digitally savvy yet, that is why we are happy to partner with MDEC for the first time on MTW’19. Listening to all these pitches excites me because some of the ideas can actually help with the homeownership issue we have in Malaysia. We still have a long way to go, but we look forward to working with these people through the thinking process,” said Kenny Wong.

The winner of the Pitch-Pit session was Homecrowd, represented by their legal advisor Kevin Koo. The winner will be granted a business opportunity to work with UEM Sunrise and US$10,000 worth of digital credit for cloud hosting services such as Amazon Web Services.

Homecrowd is a platform that tracks a homebuyer’s spending habits while factoring in their alternate sources of income, providing banks with a much more accurate picture of their credit reliability.

“I give all the credit to the founders and the team that made the company what it is today. I am just a lawyer, ” commented Kevin jokingly.
