PUTRAJAYA: Residential properties in the Federal administrative capital valued at RM300,000 and below will enjoy a 30% reduction on assessment tax beginning Jan 1, 2023.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the new amount will be in effect until Putrajaya Corporation has carried out a re-evaluation.

Anwar said he was aware of the complaints by Putrajaya residents who have to pay a higher rate for residential assessments compared to other areas.

“After obtaining explanation from the authority on this matter, I have agreed that assessments be reduced by 30% for residential properties that are below RM300,000.

“This move is in line with the Federal Government’s aim to reduce the people’s burden, especially those in the M40 and B40 income brackets who are homeowners in Putrajaya,” he said in a statement on Thursday (Dec 22).

The Prime Minister said the 30% cut will be given to residential premises whose construction was completed in 2017 onwards.

This will involve close to 8,500 residential units.
